NYA is designing the structural system for this new development, consisting of 12 stand-alone, low, mid and high-rise structures, totaling over 10 Million sf of office, residential, retail, hotel, parking, and entertainment space, including a cineplex, ice rink, and bowling alley. A distinguishing feature of the project is a 30-acre green roof, which blankets all of the buildings and links adjacent structures. The green roof is supported by a base isolation system located on top of the buildings below. This innovative isolation system allows the massive park to seismically dampen out the response of the buildings below, resulting in significantly reduced seismic demands, while increasing seismic performance and resiliency for this iconic development. The project is currently in design, with phased constructed expected to commence in early 2019.
